Abstract

The angular variation of the ghost anomaly is found to be identical to that of the Be8 ground state for the reaction Be9(d,t)Be8 at Ed=2.5 MeV. The anomaly is absent from deuteron spectra of the reaction Li6(α,d)Be8, but present in spectra from the reactions Li7(α,t)Be8 and Be9(p,d)Be8. End points of possible three-particle reactions lie close to the observed anomaly so the interpretation is doubtful.
