Measurement of Magnetic-Substate Populations Following the Reactions O16(Li7,t)Ne20 and O16(Li6,d)Ne20

Abstract

Particle-γ angular correlations using the reactions O16(Li7,tγ)Ne20 and O16(Li6,dγ)Ne20 have been measured. The populations of the various magnetic substates in the residual nucleus were extracted from the data. The results indicate the presence of other reaction mechanisms competing with direct transfer of an α particle.
