Abstract

The decay schemes of 2.4 min 71gZn and 3.9 h 71mZn have been studied with the use of Ge(Li) and NaI(Tl) detectors and a multi-parameter analyser system. In the case of 71mZn decay, it was possible to observe coincidences in a Ge(Li)-Ge(Li) configuration. The short half-life of 71gZn limited coincidence studies of that isomer to NaI(Tl)-Ge(Li). A total of 24 γ-rays are assigned to decay of 71gZn and 60 to that of 71mZn. Excited states of 71Ga are observed at 390, 487, 512, 910, 965, 1107, 1109, 1395, 1476, 1494, 1499, 1632, 1702, 1720, 2065, 2247, 2294, 2451, 2488, 2601, 2720, 2805 and 2816 keV. Several 72+ and 72+ or 92+ levels are populated above 2200 keV by allowed β decay of 92+ 71mZn. It is not clear if those levels can best be described as 2 +, 4+, and 3 vibrations coupled with the g92, p32, p12 and f52 particle states or as members of rotational bands built on the Nilsson components of the g92 orbital.
