Anomalous Beta-Alpha Anisotropy in the Decay of Na20

Abstract

An anisotropy has been observed in the βα directional correlation for an allowed β+ decay in Na20. The effect is much larger than expected from interference from the second-order "weak magnetism" alone. The possibility of an enhanced E2 interference is discussed.
