Abstract

The results of shell-model calculations in the Hartree-Fock basis for the low-energy excited states of 18O, 18F and 10Be nuclei are presented. The calculations were carried out using the effective Yale interaction of Shakin et al. and the Sussex interaction of Elliott et al. It was found that the calculated Hartree-Fock spectra are compressed compared to the experi- mental spectra in all the cases. It is also observed that in the restricted configuration space the Hartree-Fock and the harmonic oscillator wave functions give very similar results.
