Abstract

The mean lives of the first excited states in 181Ta and 165Ho were measured with the micro-wave method. The results obtained are τ(181Ta) = 61.4 ± 5.4ps, τ(165Ho) = 40.6 ± 3.4ps. The M1 reduced transition probabilities are calculated and the values of |gKgR| are found to be in agreement with those from higher transitions in the ground state rotational bands of these nuclei.
