The cross-section for electroexcitation of the giant resonance region in ${}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$ has been measured using incident electron beams of 177 and 250 MeV. The spectrum excited by the Coulomb interaction was quite similar to the result obtained from the ${}_{}{}^{12}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}(\gamma ,n){}_{}{}^{11}{}_{}{}^{}\mathrm{C}$ reaction. The experimental data were compared with the theoretical predictions based on the particle-hole model.
