Abstract

Heavy particles from silver targets bombarded by C12 heavy projectiles have been identified using a counter telescope and bidimensional analysis of ΔE and E data. Energy distributions have been measured for Li, Be, B, C, N, and O nuclei. Angular distributions exhibit a maximum which is related to the distance of closest approach. The largest cross sections are observed for B11 (1p) and C13 (+1n) single transfer. It is emphasized that the total cross section for the loss of a proton by the projectile is 60 times the cross section for the pickup of a proton. The products of transfer reactions are mainly formed in excited states, but the angular distribution does not depend on the degree of excitation, at least for the lowest excited states.
