Abstract

By employing the reactions Mg24(p,He6)Na19 and Si28(p,He6)Al23 [dσdΩ100 nb/sr], the mass excesses of Na19 and Al23 are found to be 12.974 ± 0.070 and 6.766 ± 0.080 MeV, respectively [C12 = 0]. Since Na19 is determined to be proton unstable, Al23 should be the lightest, nucleon-stable member of the A=4n+3, TZ=32 mass series.
