Polarization of He3 Elastically Scattered from He4

Abstract

The polarization of He3 nuclei elastically scattered from He4 has been measured. Absolute polarization values are determined from three asymmetries measured at appropriate energies and angles using double-scattering techniques. A polarization angular distribution at 13-MeV He3 energy indicates general agreement with previously reported phase shifts.
