Abstract

The 90° yield of protons was measured for the 12C(γ, p)11B reaction using bremsstrahlung of 37.7 MeV end-point energy. While moderate structure has previously been seen in 12C(γ, n)11C total cross-section measurements which summed over all states of 11C, no significant structure is found with comparable energy resolution in the 12C(γ, p0)11C reaction above 30 MeV. It is deduced that the 1s−1 1p12 hole-particle configuration is probably concentrated in either of the relatively strong levels at 31.5 ± 1.3 MeV and 35.7 ± 0.7 MeV excitation energy or is split between them.
