Abstract

The cross sections of the reactions B10(Li6, α0)C12 and B10(Li6, α1)C12* have been measured at 0° for Li6 energies of 3.20 to 13.60 MeV. The Be9(Li6, p0)C14 and Be9(Li9, p1)C14* cross sections at 0° were measured for Li6 energies ranging from 3.84 to 6.40 MeV. The analysis of the yield curves in terms of Ericson fluctuation theory gave values of the average level width, Γ, of 1.40 MeV for O16 at 36-MeV excitation and approximately 0.40 MeV for N15 at 28-MeV excitation. From the same data it was found that there is a considerable contribution of direct reaction mechanism as well as compound nucleus to both reactions.
