Abstract

The neutron separation energy for the C12(n, γ)C13 reaction has been determined by observing the γ-ray transitions with a Ge(Li) detector. The energy of each transition was determined relative to an appropriate precision standard. The value obtained, 4946.47±0.17 keV, is in good agreement with previous values and represents a significant improvement in precision.
