Abstract

With a cloud chamber the three-particle reaction 14N(n, 2α)7Li has been studied at En = 14.1 and 15.7 MeV. The measured cross section at 14.1 MeV, σ3(14.1) = 58±12 mb, was used to calculate σ3(15.7) = 70±15 mb. At En = 15.7 MeV, 1127 events of the reaction 14N(n, 2α)7Li and 13 events of the four-particle reaction 14N(n, t)3α were observed in one series of pictures; thus σ4(15.7) = 0.8±0.5 mb. The predominant disintegration modes are given.
