Abstract

The scattering process 6Li(α, α)6Li has been studied in the energy range between 2 and 3.7 MeV. Angular distributions as well as excitation functions, especially in the neighbourhood of known but unassigned states, have been measured. The shape of the angular distributions does not vary appreciably with energy. The strong backward peak indicates an exchange process between the incoming α-particle and the α-cluster in 6Li. The analysis of the resonance structure of the excitation functions near 2.61, 2.78 and 3.50 MeV leads to the assignments = 4+, = 3 and = (2, 4) for the corresponding levels in 10B at 6.02, 6.13 and 6.56 MeV, respectively. The α-widths of these levels were found to be λlab = 0.09±0.04, 3.93±0.55 and 41.8±1.9 keV, respectively.
