Abstract

The form factor for the 19.08-MeV level in oxygen-16 has been measured for momentum transfers between 60 and 260 MeVc. The results, when compared with particle-hole calculations, strongly support an assignment J=2. Since the transition is transverse, the parity is negative, and the assignment to the level is Jπ=2.
