Abstract

Absolute differential cross sections for the 19F(p, α)16O reaction leading to the ground state of 16O, the 19F(p, 3He)17O reaction leading to the ground state of 17O and the 19F(p, 3He)17O reaction leading to the first excited state of 17O (Eex = 0.871 MeV) have been measured for angles between 7 and 155°, 16 and 111° and 16 and 111° in the centre-of-mass system, respectively. The angular distributions showed strong forward peaking for all three reactions. The experimental data were compared with theoretical angular distributions obtained by distorted-wave methods. The calculated angular distributions fit the L = 0 data quite well; the L = 2 data are not so well fitted. The ratio of the experimental spectroscopic factors for the two (p, 3He) reactions agrees quite well with the computed ratio.
