Abstract

Deuteron energy spectra and angular distributions from the (n, d) reaction initiated by 14 MeV neutrons on the isotopes 65Cu and 66, 68Zn are given. The angular distributions are fitted with DWBA, and the results are interpreted in terms of the Cu isotope structure as predicted by the unified model.

However, a number of processes such as the use of high flux nuclear reactors, charged-particle accelerators and high-energy bremsstrahlung radiations can be used to produce it. More specifically, the production of 67Cu was studied with fast neutron irradiation on zinc via 67Zn(n,p)67Cu (Kielan and Marcinkowski, 1995) and 68Zn(n,d)67Cu (Chursin et al., 1967) reactions routes in nuclear reactors. The production of no-carrier-added (NCA) 67Cu, which is a pre-requisite for application in human beings, may also be achieved via charged-particle-induced reactions at accelerator (e.g., cyclotron) systems.
