Abstract

The decay of the excited states of 175Yb has been studied, using the thermal neutron capture reaction. The low-energy conversion-electron spectrum, the high- and low-energy gamma-ray spectrum and the γ-γ coincidence spectrum were measured with a β-spectrograph and detector combination of Ge(Li)-NaJ(Tl). A new 32+ level at 1066 keV was observed. The structure of this level is probably: 32+[642]+(72[514]+Q32). Intensive primary transitions from the capture state populate the 32 levels of the rotational bands 12[510], 32[512] and 12[521] and new levels at 1892, 1935, 2107, 2137, and 2187 keV. The relative intensity of the primary transitions from the capture state to the levels 12[510] and 12[521] is very small.
