Abstract

Energy distributions have been calculated for 7Li(p, n)7Be neutrons for targets up to 1900 Å thick at 0°, 45°, 90°, 135° and 180°. The distributions are affected in several ways when account is taken of the discrete nature of energy losses experienced by protons in the target. Peaks and long tails appear on the distributions, and the neutron intensity in any direction is seldom equal to the intensity predicted when continuous energy losses are assumed for the protons.
