Abstract

The low-lying states produced in residual nuclei from reactions induced by bombarding 40Ca with 150 MeV protons were studied in two sets of measurements: (i) gamma radiation was studied in coincidence with a single proton of selected energies, and (ii) gamma radiation was studied in coincidence with at least two outgoing protons. Information was obtained in particular about the mechanisms of the 40Ca(p, 2p), (p, 3p) and (p, pα) reactions and about the structures of the residual nuclei 39K, 38Ar and 36Ar.
