Abstract

The branching ratio of the Jπ=2+ 6.92-MeV level of O16 via the Jπ=0+ 6.05-MeV level is measured to be R=(2.3±0.5)×104. This corresponds to an E2 transition strength of several single-particle units and supports the suggestion that these two states are the lowest members of a rotational band.
