Abstract

A Buechner-type magnetic spectrograph has been used to study the following reactions: N14(d,p)N15 at 90° and 120° with respect to an incident deuteron beam of Ed=4 MeV; C13(He3,p)N15 at 60°, 90°, and 120°, with EHe3=4.0 MeV; and C14(He3,p)N16 at 60°, 90°, and 120° and at bombarding energies of 4.0 and 4.5 MeV. Thirteen proton groups have been observed corresponding to levels in N15 between 8 and 11 MeV. Recently reported N15 levels at 9.226, 9.763, and 9.929 MeV are confirmed, but no evidence is found for the N15 levels tentatively reported at 8.643, 8.739, and 9.598 MeV. In the reaction C14(He3,p)N16, 13 proton groups have been observed corresponding to the ground state and excited states of N16 up to 5.3 MeV. All of the N16 levels are in agreement with those reported previously by means of other reactions. However, no evidence is found for levels tentatively identified at 1.29, 1.737, and 2.150 MeV.
