Abstract

A systematic investigation has been carried out of the angular dependence of the polarization and cross section in p-3He elastic scattering at angles ranging from 50° to 130° in the laboratory system for eight proton energies between 2.38 and 4.46 MeV. The results are in agreement, within the experimental uncertainties, with the predictions of phase-shift analyses of elastic scattering angular distributions by Tombrello. The agreement with the 4.05 MeV measurements of McDonald et al. is good. A contour map of percent polarization, as a function of energy and centre-of-mass angle, is also given.
