Abstract

The angular distributions of four alpha groups from the 19F(d, α)17O reaction have been measured at five deuteron energies, ranging from 950 to 1250 keV. All angular distributions showed marked asymmetry about 90° and change their shape rapidly with bombarding energy. The experimental data have been analysed in terms of Legendre polynomials. The α1, α2 and α3 groups have total cross-sections consistent with the 2J+1 law, as is expected from a statistical compound nucleus mechanism.
