Abstract

The 185-μsec isomer in Ho166 has been produced by the Ho165 (d, p) reaction and the delayed radiation studied with γ scintillation spectrometers and a magnetic β spectrometer. The results have been combined with high-resolution measurements of the γ rays from thermal-neutron capture in Ho165, using a curved-crystal spectrometer. A Kπ=3+ level at 190.90 keV decays by two K-forbidden E1 transitions of 19 and 136.66 keV to the 3 and 2 members, respectively, of the Kπ=0 ground-state rotational band of Ho166.
