Abstract

An experimetaal analysis of Be9 photodisintegration processes, involving the emission of α-particles of energy greater than about 4 MeV, shows that in the energy range of 18 to 25 MeV the (γ, n) reaction mainly leads to the 16.6 MeV level of the residual Be8∗ nucleus that decays into two α-particles. Resonances of Be9 are identified at 18.7±0.4 MeV, 20.9±0.6 MeV and 25±2 MeV; there are some indications of a resonance at about 29±3 MeV. The resonances in the Be9(γ, n) and Be9(γ, p) cross section at about 22 MeV are attributed to photon absorption by the p32 core nucleons.
