As the beginning of a program to study $E2\mathrm{}$ lifetimes in the neighborhood of $A=16\mathrm{}$, we have remeasured the mean lifetimes of the first excited states of ${\mathrm{O}}^{17}$ and ${\mathrm{F}}^{17}$; we find (2.587±0.042)×${10}^{-10\mathrm{}}$ sec and (4.068±0.087)×${10}^{-10\mathrm{}}$ sec, respectively.
