Abstract

The neutron yields from the Li6(α, n)B9 and Li7(α, n)B10 reactions have been measured as a function of alpha particle bombarding energy from threshold to 15 MeV. The observed Li6(α, n)B9 reaction threshold energy is 6.623±0.020 MeV (lab). Angular distribution of the emitted neutrons have been measured at bombarding energies of 8.0, 10.0, 12.0 and 14.0 MeV and a spherical Bessel function squared fits to the data is presented. The excitation curve for the Li7 target show prominent resonances in contrast with the curved for the Li6 target which increases monotonically with energy. The Li7(α, n)B10 threshold energy determined in this experiment is 4.380±0.020 MeV.
