Abstract

The angular distributions were measured for protons and neutrons resulting from the interaction He3+T at incident tritium ion energies of 460, 665, 900 and 1087 keV. The angular distributions were found to be anisotropic and energy dependent. By means of the observed distributions new values were calculated for the cross-sections of three different reaction channels and for the total He3+T cross-section. It is suggested that the reaction is predominantly of the compound type, proceeding through the compound system Li6.

In order to make proper quantification more pronounced and well separated peaks should be obtained, which could be done with a thinner target with high tritium amount e.g. [23]. Since we cannot obtain the cross section from our measurements we have extracted the cross section from Kühn and Schlenk [24] and Nocken et al. [25], as shown in Fig. 6. The cross-section data are available only in the low energy region up to 1.1 MeV where our NRA signal is rather small.
