Elastic and inelastic scattering of 14 MeV neutrons from the lithium isotopes

Abstract

The angular distributions of elastically scattered 14 MeV neutrons have been measured for Li6, Li7, and natural Li from 20° to 130°. Inelastic scattering to the 2.18 MeV level in Li6 and the 4.6 MeV level in Li7 has been measured over a more restricted angular range. In Li6 the 3.57 MeV level is not excited appreciably. The inelastic neutrons from the 2.18 MeV level in Li6 and the 4.6 MeV level in Li7 are peaked in the forward direction, which is indicative of a direct reaction.
