Abstract

The decay of the C12 nucleus into three α-particles under the action of 22 to 24 MeV α-particles is studied to determine the reaction mechanisms.

Spatial and energy distributions of the decay products as well as the excitation energies of the possible intermediate nuclei C12 and Be3 are given.

It is established that the dominating reaction mechanism is the decay of the nucleus O16 into four α-particles with the resonance interaction of α-particles in the final state.
