Abstract

The polarization of Li7(p, n)Be7 neutrons has been measured at nine proton energies between 4 and 10 MeV. The dependence of the polarization on reaction angle was determined at 4.0, 4.7, 5.9, 6.9, 7.9, 9.1 and 10.0 MeV. The polarizations were deduced from the asymmetry of n-He4 scattering. Neutrons which left Be7 in its ground state and first excited state were detected with approximately equal efficiency and were not resolved from each other.
