Abstract

From the decay curve of the radioactive nuclei produced in the (n, α) and (n, p) reactions occuring in a NaJ(Tl) scintillation crystal irradiated by neutrons of 14 MeV energy the ratio σ(n, α)/σ(n, p) of the Na23 nucleus was computed and found to be 2.4±10% as compared with 3.1 obtained from the evaporation theory.
