Abstract

The directional correlation in the 2.86-0.72 Mev cascade in B10 has been studied by utilizing the Be9(d, n)B10*(γ)B10 reaction. At low bombarding energies and with thick targets the gamma-gamma correlation appears to be substantially independent of the preceding (d, n) reaction. With spins of 3 and 1 for the two low states of B10, the observed correlation is consistent with the schemes: 2(93%D, 7%Q, 0 phase)1(Q)3; 2(Q)1(Q)3; 1(89%D, 11%Q, π phase)1(Q)3, or 1(11%D, 89%Q, π phase)1(Q)3.
