Abstract

Magnetic analysis of the alpha-particle groups from the deuteron bombardment of boron and of the proton groups from the proton bombardment of beryllium confirms previous work indicating the existence of levels in Be9 at 2.43 and 3.04 Mev. The energy of the edge of a broad distribution at 1.664-Mev excitation is taken to indicate that it arises from a three-body reaction; the shape of the edge indicates the influence of the Be8n interaction.
