Abstract

An attempt was made to detect the reaction T(d, γ)He5, using a Cockcroft-Walton accelerator. A tritiumzirconium target was bombarded with 160-kev deuterons. A NaI scintillation counter was used to search for 16-Mev gamma rays from the T(d, γ)He5 reaction. No 16-Mev gamma-rays were detected. It was concluded that the cross section was less than 0.5 millibarn at 160 kev.
