Abstract

Observations have been made of the proton groups resulting from the deuteron bombardment of a carbon target enriched to 60% in C13. A total of twenty-four such groups was observed, of which eleven have been assigned to levels in C13 and thirteen to levels in C14. The experimental angular distributions are compared with the predictions of stripping theory. The excitation values for twelve previously unreported levels have been obtained with probable errors of ±0.02 Mev. These levels are at 7.47, 9.50, and 9.90 Mev in C13 and at 6.59, 7.35, 8.32, 9.80, 10.43, 10.50, 12.60, 12.85, and 12.96 Mev in C14.
