Abstract

The elastic and inelastic scattering of 9.5-Mev protons by C12 and O16 nuclei has been studied by means of photographic plates. The 4.43-Mev state of C12, as well as the 6.05-, 6.13-, 6.9-, and 7.1-Mev states of O16 have been observed. The angular distribution of the protons elastically scattered by C12 and O16 has been determined and compared with Rutherford scattering. In the case of the protons inelastically scattered by C12, the angular distribution shows symmetry around 90°.
