Abstract

An annular magnet has been used to determine the difference in energy of the particles from the Be9(d,α)Li7 and Li6(d,p)Li7 reactions. These energies have been measured through a direct comparison with the alpha-particles from polonium, and they serve to determine the energy of the level in Li7 excited in these processes. The values obtained are 482±3 kev for the Be9(d,α) reaction and 483±6 kev for the Li6(d,p) reaction.
