First ultracold neutrons produced at TRIUMF

NUCLEAR REACTIONS W(p, n), E=483 MeV; measured E(n), I(n), ultracold neutron (UCN) yield and storage lifetimes using 6Li-enriched glass scintillator for neutron detection using the superfluid-helium source for ultracold neutrons at a new spallation source at TRIUMF. Comparison with simulated ultracold neutron yield. Relevance to future measurement of the electric dipole moment of the neutron, and other experiments.
