NUCLEAR REACTIONS 242mAm(40Ar, 40Ar'), E=170.5 MeV; measured Eγ, Iγ, (particle)γ-, γγ-coin using Gammasphere array. 242Am; deduced levels, J, π, rotational bands, Nilsson configurations, band parameters, alignments, B(E1), B(E2) and B(E3) strengths. Coulomb excitation. Comparison of alignment of the observed bands in 242Am with single-particle alignments in 241Am and with particle-rotor model calculations.
