Probing elastic and inelastic breakup contributions to intermediate-energy two-proton removal reactions

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 9Be(28Mg, 26Ne), [28Mg secondary beam from 9Be(40Ar, X), E=140 MeV/nucleon primary reaction], E=93 MeV/nucleon; measured particle spectra, energy loss, time of flight, (26Ne)(particle)(particle)-coin, relative cross sections, σ(θ), relative and absolute yields using Coupled Cyclotron facility at NSCL; deduced missing mass spectrum for 26Ne and two proton coincidence events. Importance of stripping, diffraction-stripping, and diffraction two-proton removal mechanisms. Comparison with predictions of reaction model based on eikonal dynamics, and sd-shell structure amplitudes.
