Search for 21C and constraints on 22C

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 9Be(22C, n21C), E=68 MeV/nucleon; measured En, In(\theta), E(20C fragment), I(20C fragment, \theta). 21,22C calculated double neutron halo nucleus low-lying levels, J, π, spectrometric factor using shell model, Goldhaber model with friction term. 21C deduced non-existence of bound state. 20C+n deduced scattering length.

Observation of a low-lying neutron-unbound state in 19C

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 9Be(22N, n18C), (22N, n19C), (22N, n20C), E=68 MeV/nucleon; measured carbon fragments, En, In, (carbon)n-coin. 19C deduced 76 keV resonance, low-lying level scheme near neutron drip line; calculated low-lying levels, J, π using different shell models.
