A Novel Approach to β-Decay: PANDORA, a New Experimental Setup for Future In-Plasma Measurements

RADIOACTIVITY 94Nb, 134Cs, 176Lu(β-); calculated stellar to terrestrial T1/2 of β- decay of these isotopes as a function of temperature from 0.5-1000 MK; reviewed novel approach to measure β- decay rates of radionuclides relevant in nuclear-astrophysics under the PANDORA (Plasmas for Astrophysics, Nuclear Decay Observation and Radiation for Archaeometry) project at the INFN-LNS-Catania facility.

High-precision half-life measurement for the isospin T=1/2 mirror β+ decay of 21Na

RADIOACTIVITY 21Na(β+)[from C(36Ar, X), E=95 MeV/nucleon]; measured decay curves for positrons emitted by implanted 21Na ions, precise half-life at GANIL-SPIRAL radioactive ion beam facility; deduced ft and Vud of T=1/2 nuclei. Relevance to the test of the conserved vector current hypothesis of the standard model. Comparison with data for decays of T=1/2 nuclei: 19Ne, 35Ar and 37K.
