X-ray-γ fast-timing lifetime measurement of the 6+1 state in 206Po

RADIOACTIVITY 206Po(IT)[from successive EC decay of 206Rn(EC)-206At(EC) produced in 194Pt(16O, 4n)206Rn, E=84 MeV]; measured X-rays, Eγ, Iγ, (X-rays)γ-coin, γγγ-coin. 206Po; deduced levels, J, π, T1/2 of the 4+ and 6+ excited states, B(E2). Lifetimes extracted via the generalized centroid difference (GCD) method. Systematics of the B(E2) for even-even Po isotopes with N<126. HORUS spectrometer consisting of 8 coaxial HPGe and 11 LaBr detectors at the FN-Tandem facility (Institute for Nuclear Physics, University of Cologne).

Comparison with multishell Interacting boson-fermion model (IBFM-1) calculations. 99mMo produced in 98Mo(d, p), E=6 MeV reaction.

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 99Mo; calculated levels, J, π, configurations, magnetic moments and g-factor quenching using Interacting boson-fermion model (IBFM-1), and ODDA, PBEM, and SPEC computer codes. Comparison with experimental data.

Lifetimes and structures of low-lying negative-parity states of 209Po

RADIOACTIVITY 209At(EC), (β+)[from successive α and ϵ decay of 213Fr, produced in 206Pb(11B, 4n)213Fr, E=56 MeV at the FN-Tandem facility of University of Cologne]; measured Eγ, Iγ, γγ-coin, level half-lives by γγ(t) fast-timing method and analyzed by generalized centroid difference (GCD) method using eight HPGe detectors and 12 LaBr scintillators, with six of these placed inside BGO anti-Compton shields. 209Po; deduced levels, J, π, B(M1), B(E2). Comparison with shell-model calculation using a microscopic effective interaction derived from the realistic CD-Bonn potential.

NUCLEAR STRUCTURE 209Po; calculated proton single-particle and neutron single-hole energies, levels, J, π, B(M1), B(E2), magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole moments, orbital composition and one-neutron pick-up spectroscopic factors of selected states, E2 matrix elements. Shell-model calculations with a realistic effective interaction derived from the CD-Bonn nucleon-nucleon potential within the framework of Q-box folded-diagram approach. NUCLEAR REACTIONS 208Pb(140Nd, 140Nd'), E=4.62 MeV/nucleon, [140Nd beam from Ta(p, X), E=1.4 GeV at HIE-ISOLDE-CERN, and isotopic selection by RILIS and REXEBIS]; measured Eγ, Iγ, scattered particles, (particle)γ- and (particle)γγ-coin using Miniball array and double-sided silicon strip detector (DSSD). 140Nd; deduced levels, J, π, Coulomb excitation cross sections, B(E2), B(E3), B(M1) by analyzing data using multistep Coulomb-excitation least-squares fitting code GOSIA, identification of the third 2+ state as the main fragment of the one-quadrupole-phonon proton-neutron mixed-symmetry state, and degree of F-spin mixing. Systematics of B(M1) strengths for N=80 isotones of 132Te, 134Xe, 136Ba, 138Ce and 140Nd, and compared with theoretical predictions.
