Measurement of 4He charge- and mass-changing cross sections on H, C, O, and Si targets in the energy range 70-220 MeV/u for radiation transport calculations in ion-beam therapy

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 1H, 12C, 16O, 28Si(α, X), E=70-220 MeV/nucleon; measured reaction products, σ(E) for mass and charge changing reactions using ΔE-E scintillator telescope for particle detection, and targets of C, CH2, Si, SiO2 and H2O; optimization of Tripathi parametrization for total reaction σ. Comparison with previous experimental data and models. Relevance to radiation transport calculations in ion-beam radiotherapy.
