Revised of the Final Level Formalism

Currently, final level specification on a continuation G record in ENSDF requires the final level energy to be an exact match to an existing level below the parent level. Example: FL=E, where E must match one of the level energies below that of the parent.

It is proposed that FL=?, FL=E? may also be allowed with their interpretation as given below:

  1. FL=? will indicate that the final level to which the gamma-ray feeds is ambiguous or unknown.
  2. FL=E? will indicate that probably the gamma-ray feeds the level E but its decay to another nearby level can not be ruled out.
