Experimental Reaction Database: News on Compilations

EXchange FORmat

EXFOR (also called CSISRS for Cross-Section Information Storage and Retrieval System) is a database for experimental nuclear reaction data. Published data from all over the world are compiled (entered in the database) without evaluation by different centers and compilers. The main data sources are the journals with referees (as Physical Review C, Nuclear Physics A), but also laboratories reports (as LAUR from Los Alamos National Laboratory), proceedings, dissertations, and private communications.

Historically, EXFOR was initiated for neutron-induced reactions at low energies (less than a GeV). An extensive effort has been applied to compile all neutron-induced reaction data at low energy since 1950. But with the evolution of the experiments and needs from the users, charged particle-induced reactions are also compiled. New compilations are regularly added on the base of new publications and users' requests.

In any case, priority is given to the requests from users. Contact Dimitri Rochman for any needs concerning compilations.

Different types of induced reactions:

  • Neutron-induced reactions:
    • (n,fission), (n,el), (n,n'γ), (n,α), ...
  • Photon-induced reactions:
    • (γ,f), (γ,n), ...
  • Charged particle-induced reactions:
    • (α,el), (p,f), (t,inel), ...

Different types of quantities:

  • Cross sections (CS)
  • Differential cross sections as function of the angle (DA)
  • Resonance parameters (RP)
  • Fission product yields (FY)
  • Many others...
