Low-lying dipole response in the unstable 70Ni nucleus

NUCLEAR REACTIONS 197Au(70Ni, 70Ni'), E=260 MeV/nucleon, [secondary 70Ni beam from 9Be(238U, F), E=345 MeV/nucleon primary reaction and using the BigRIPS magnetic separator for 70Ni ions]; measured reaction products, Eγ, Iγ, Coulomb excitation yields using HECTOR+ and DALI2 arrays at RIBF-RIKEN. 70Ni; deduced 1- pygmy dipole resonances (PDR), B(E1) strengths for 1- states, energy weighted sum rule (EWSR), and B(E2) for the first 2+ state. Comparison with data for 68Ni, and with theoretical predictions.
